Two measurements: one off the bike you ride now, one off your own arm. If you haven’t measured either yet, rider height is a reasonable starting point.

Armpad width

Outer edge of the left cup to the outer edge of the right cup. This is the outside width — pad width is often quoted centre to centre elsewhere, so measure your current setup the same way before you compare the numbers.

Between two sizes? Go up, on both.

Height is a starting point, not the rule — the two measurements decide it. Aim for the narrowest width where you can still tuck your shoulders in behind your arms and hold it for your full race distance. Narrower than that and you lose the shoulder tuck, which gives back more than the width saves.

A cup shorter than your forearm leaves the last part of it unsupported, and support along the whole length is the point of the shape. Each size carries 70 mm of reach and 15–30° of angle, so the size sets your width — not your whole position.

Between two sizes? Go up. A cup shorter than your forearm leaves the end unsupported, and a narrower one is harder to hold for four hours. Measure armpad width outside edge to outside edge — not centre-to-centre. Height is a guide; the two measurements decide it.
